Space: NASA’s Curiosity rover prepares to drill

Photonic Space

In Scientific American today, Caleb A. Scharf blogs that NASA's Curiosity rover is preparing to drill for the first time. The target will be  sedimentary rock crossed by mineral-filled veins, as shown in NASA's image. These rocks are suggestive of significant historical water flow across the martian surface. Once Curiosity has performed its task we all will have a new insight into Mars’ deep past. Will it find life on mars?  We soon should know.
